licence & usage

Our software is available in two versions, their use not only being limited by the functional features but also due to the different licence forms. The following provides a short overview of the main differences of using the two different versions.

i-doit, i-doit open, is offered as a free download under an Open Source Licence. The use of this version is subject to AGPLv3, the main conditions of which are contained in the familiar GPL, and the conditions can now be extended for the use of Webservice.

In addition, there is i-doit pro, a version with extended features and available either as a subscription version or as a buyers version provided with its own licence. This partly restricts the use, however liability provisions essentially control the advanced performance and regulation.

And then we come in – also under German law – with a key difference of both versions. Whereas both the pro version and our associated offer (subscription or buyers) are fully considered as 'products' under commercial law, the download version is essentially a gift. Accordingly, the difference in advanced performance and regulation is clear. The pro version offers higher security without restricting the use.

With the pro version, you can, in principle, make your own changes and extensions with the authorised code, although this affects the liability of the product. We offer certification for your changes, that enables such changes and extensions to be maintained and updated in the future.

In both versions of i-doit, there is some third party content included. This third party content is allowed to be used in commercial and free software products.
