Our history

i-doit – a vision becomes a success story

Founded in 1996 as an IT systems and consulting company, in the first decade of its existence synetics GmbH concentrated on infrastructure-related topics. In 2005, the idea for the documentation software i-doit emerged from a customer project.

Since 2015, synetics has been under the sole management of Joachim Winkler, who has transformed the company into a software company. Today, we are writing the digital future with i-doit: thousands of users entrust the operation and processes of their IT to our documentation solution.

TODAY

2021

Version 2.0 is under development.

2019

With increasing sales figures, the turnover has tripled compared to 2015. We are setting our course for the future and are carrying out a comprehensive technical renovation of the software.

2015

synetics moved into new offices, in Hildebrandtstraße in Düsseldorf, and finally gave up the system house business. Since then, the company has concentrated exclusively on the development and marketing of i-doit.

2012

  • i-doit wins the IT Innovation Award of the Initiative “Mittelstand” in the product category “System Management”.
  • Together with the University of Applied Sciences Dortmund, synetics carried out the EU-funded project “Simulation of complex service infrastructures” (SIMKOSI).
  • Version 1.0 of i-doit released.

2011

The high download numbers of open source software showed an obvious need in the market. In the medium term, the management decided to focus entirely on i-doit development and to abandon the previous system house business.

2008

First appearance with i-doit at the Cebit fair.

2005

  • As part of a customer project, synetics established an emergency plan in accordance with the specifications of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). The company then developed an application that enabled the joint recording and processing of all IT-relevant assets and information – the prototype of i-doit.
  • i-doit is published as open-source software.

1996

Markus Wolff and Joachim Winkler founded synetics GmbH in Düsseldorf, as a system and consulting company. The company quickly established itself as an IT infrastructure service provider with many well-known customers.
