With the Event add-on you enhance your CMDB triggering automation. Combined with the API add-on you have endless possibilities to run your data center more efficiently and a bit more savely.
By the means of i-doit Event add-ons, data from the CMDB is used to improve the processes in speed and security. Many tasks in daily IT operations follow a recurring process, but are dependent on current data. The i-doit CMDB, as a collection point of all possible documentation data, has this data available. For automation, you need a trigger that invokes the next activities for the creation or change of data records. DevOps requires fast and secure implementation. Changes on configurations and the rollout of new servers are two examples that need a lot of further modifications and adjustments, which have to be documented as well. It is a one-time effort that pays off to develop a run book for these cases and automate the configuration work and documentation of the results. The results are repeatable, so that – in case of a high change rate – security risks can be reduced and the quality can be increased.
The CMDB can be used as front end as well. Many IT organizations count on segregation of roles, the access to administrative tools is limited to only a few people.
