Initial situation and objectives of IT contingency planning
As an ISO/IEC 27001-certified company, HELDELE GmbH pursues continuous improvement of its information security management system (ISMS) in accordance with the PDCA cycle (Plan-Do-Check-Act).
In the course of the company's constant development and the increasing threat situation in cyberspace, a functioning and up-to-date IT contingency plan was and is of great importance.
With the full support of the management, the company set out to find a software-supported solution for IT contingency planning in order to have a central tool in use in the long term that fully maps IT contingency planning for all processes and replaces the existing IT contingency manuals based on word processing programs.
Implementation with i-doit INDART and keepbit IT-SOLUTIONS
By using the i-doit INDART software solution and the consulting services of keepbit IT-SOLUTIONS GmbH, HELDELE GmbH was able to optimize its IT emergency planning in a targeted manner and lay the foundation for a functioning IT emergency management system.
The structured approach, redundancy-free data storage and primarily automated data maintenance are key features of the software.
Emergency planning should not be seen as an end in itself. In the event of damage, it can be essential for the continued existence of the company. i-doit INDART offers an implementation guide with firmly defined results in eight project steps.
In addition, critical processes and their dependency on the existing infrastructure are analyzed. During operation, current emergency plans can be called up in the form of ad hoc reports with tried and tested restart plans.
During the introduction of i-doit INDART, keepbit IT-SOLUTIONS supported those responsible at every stage of the project.
Results, benefits and conclusion
The dependency of business processes on IT is continuously increasing worldwide. Business processes that are directly dependent on information technology and indirectly on the IT infrastructure usually require a high level of availability and therefore rapid recovery in the event of a system failure. IT contingency planning provides measures and instructions for action in order to be able to react in a structured manner in such situations and maintain business operations.
By implementing its IT emergency planning with INDART Professional®, HELDELE GmbH has taken an important step towards being able to react as quickly as possible and initiate the right measures in the event of an emergency. After all, everyone involved is aware that, despite the high level of information security measures implemented in the company, there is no 100% guarantee of not becoming a victim of cyber attacks.
"With the i-doit INDART solution, we can map our IT emergency planning in a structured and centralized manner and are well prepared for various events," says Daniel Baron, Group Manager IT Organization at HELDELE GmbH.
